About the role

At Cortalix, the Scientist Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology provides expert knowledge in the field of phage display and/or cell-free ribosomal or mRNA display, recombinant protein expression (mainly single domain antibodies) in e.g. bacteria and yeast cells, protein production and purification and bioanalysis. In addition, demonstrable practical experience with characterization techniques such as ELISA, FACS, SPR, BLI is appreciated.

You have an affinity with research into molecular targets in diseases and pharmaceutical solutions in that field. You understand preclinical and clinical science and contribute to translational work for both research, development and services for Cortalix’s business relations. You maintain and share your knowledge in this field to keep Cortalix fully informed of the latest news and developments in your research field. You will work on the continuous optimization of a platform with synthetic libraries of single domain antibodies for e.g. cancer related product concepts such as PET imaging, RadioLigand Therapy and CAR-T immunotherapy and contribute to preclinical proof of concept work and single domain antibody services for external customers. You will perform laboratory work yourself and together with colleagues and interns. You will report regularly on the progress of your experimental work.

What we expect

  • You keep preferably a PhD in molecular genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, life sciences, or equivalent.
  • You have detailed knowledge and skills in genetic engineering concepts and molecular biology techniques.
  • You have demonstrable experience in phage display and/or cell-free ribosomal or mRNA display, recombinant protein expression, preferably single domain antibodies, in bacteria and/or yeast, and downstream processing of produced proteins (e.g. purification and bio-analysis).
  • You have affinity with (bio)pharmaceutical research and translational science.
  • You are a results-oriented team player, with a pro-active, hands-on and solution-oriented attitude.
  • You have good data reporting and presenting skills (internally/externally).
  • You have the ability to work successfully in a small organization.
